So Very Cold!

Today has been a high of 11 ' degrees with a windchill of -4. Man it is cold out there! Here is a photo I took last March of one of my flowering cherry trees. I have one that blooms white blossoms and one that blooms pink blossoms. They are still babies ~ only a few years old, but growing more each year. In the SOOC {straight out of camera} shot of this photo, the sky is a deep dark blue. But I love the pastel look. Usually the very first thing I do when I edit a photo is soften up the color - desaturate for a more gentle look. I love desaturation. It can be tricky, and there is a fine line to getting it to where it looks agreeable to me. Same thing with brightening an image up. Of course it helps if your subject is already pastel-hued. I wouldn't desaturate a fuchsia red rose, to me, that just never comes out right.

So happy it's Friday. I don't know whats on the agenda. On winter days like these, we really never make any plans. I have had a bit of the winter depression creep up on me... nothing bad... just wanting to sleep a lot. A winter crabbiness that tends to linger until I can get outside and start gardening again. I have 3 tiny pots of forget-me-nots sprouting on my windowsill ~ yes, those $1 section Target plants do work. ;) But, I really don't consider that gardening.

I really appreciate all the comments you guys have left me ~ they are so nice! Have a great weekend and happy February!

  1. I know! Can you believe how cold it is here in the midwest?! It's numbing outside....and I have winter crabiness too. The cold blahs just seem to linger. I can't wait for spring - I bought seeds yesterday and keep staring at them, aching to get into the dirt. :)

Hope you're feeling better....stay warm and inside. xo

  4. This time of year, I get the "winter whines", Lara. lol! Whining about the cold; whining about the snow; whining about the length of winter. lolol! But at least we only have a couple more months to go. I'm counting the days til spring...just like you are! ♥
