Weekend Antiquing

It is so icy outside and I'm snuggled up here in a warm blanket. I went to my favorite antique shop on Sunday. It is one of those shops that has room upon room as you wind down the corridors, a loft space, and a bargain basement. That basement is my favorite! Everything in the basement was all 75 percent off. I got this beautiful and ornate silver tray for a really great price. The photos make it look small, but it really is nice and big. I love it!

And then I grabbed several little bags of mixed cream and white buttons to fill an apothecary jar I have. I am obsessed with vintage notions and papers! I don't know what's better sifting through them on a antiquing trip or collecting them. :)

I treated myself to some more dreamy cream roses. Having fresh flowers around during these cold winter months definitely is a pick me up. Roses can last for a pretty long time if you change the water everyday and keep cutting down their stems.

Did anyone else watch the season premier of Downton Abbey last night? My husband and I are in love with that show! We have been counting down the days! Sunday nights are Downton nights here at my house. :) Thanks for your visit and have a wonderful fresh new week.

A favorite of mine too!Mine at getting a bit droopy I need to refresh them. But looking today at the market they were looking stale too! I think I will wait until the next shipment.Nothing like fresh flowers espcially this time of the year! How are your paper whites?I still have some blooming here.
I think I know what antique shop you are talking about. Is it the one in Elburn? My very good friend lives out that way and when I can I stop by.

  4. Antiques shops are my favorite! I recently went to two nearby antiques "malls" and was so disappointed in the selection. I went home empty handed. On a different note, my husband and I are also big fans of Downton Abbey and yes, Sunday nights are now "Downton" nights in our house too.
