The Secret Garden

"A profusion of pink roses being ragged in the rain speaks to me of all gentleness and its enduring." ~ William Carlos Williams

Good morning! I wanted to take some pictures of my pale pink roses before they wilt away. I repurposed an old ironstone gravy server as a vase. With the cold winter months, I find myself buying flowers weekly. I can't help it; they just make me happy. Another thing that makes me happy is finding vintage books! I am a little obsessed with that right now. I found this beautiful copy of The Secret Garden over the weekend. It is not too tattered or too antique, but I love its mint green jacket with the tiny pink climbing roses.

It is illustrated lovingly by the sweet departed Tasha Tudor. I just adore anything by Tasha Tudor. She was an amazing woman who lived a truly beautiful life.

Another photo of my withering roses. I like how it looks slightly frosty on the window.

My mom, sister, and little niece are coming over today for a visit. We always have some really good laughs when we get together. I love that! My kids get so excited, too. My daughter is already drawing pictures for her auntie, because she knows my sister loves art. My sister is a student at The Art Institute in Chicago; a wonderful school and an incredible art museum to see! We are a family of creativity-loving girls.

I'll be back next week, hopefully with some new and fresh flowers. ;)

I'm sharing with the following Friday link parties:

  11. Oh, you have wrapped me up in the magic of The Secret Garden once again. I read it nearly every early spring, and Ms. Tudor's illustrations are utterly enchanting. I, too, love tiny, pink, climbing roses....do you grow the fairy roses that Tasha Tudor grew in her garden?
