Brown Transferware and Hyancinths

Good afternoon! I am enjoying a quiet Monday afternoon with the kids at school right now. I spent the morning giving the kitchen a good scrubbing, then I took some photos of a few new pretties I got over the weekend.

I have begun to collect English ironstone brown transferware. I just find it so soothing to look at with the delicate floral designs. I got my first dish. My plan is to get a platter, and a few more dishes and hang them up over the bay window in my kitchen. I would also like to add some white cafe curtains to those windows, too. I'm trying to create sort of a cafe look to my kitchen, yet keep it bright and airy. I've been thinking a lot about the things I'd like to accomplish with our house in 2013. :)

I had to have these sweet little transferware butter pats.

Last but not least, I found this old discontinued Anthropologie monogram teacup at Goodwill. I was pretty excited when I saw it and frantically searched the shelves for a mate to no avail. These teacups were sold at Anthropologie before I started to shop there regularly, so I never had a chance to buy them. I need to search for more on E-bay; I think they are the nicest of all the monogram style mugs. ;)

We've had freezing rain here in Illinois for the past couple days. It was brrr this morning! I love how this white in bloom hydrangea is looking on my kitchen window and it smells so good. I wish I could bottle that scent.

  9. Could your photos be any more beautiful!!! I have a brown transferware mug that was given to me and it is one of my most cherished things I own. I especially love the brown, it has that perfect worn look to it.

It's cold here too. I haven't ventured too far from the fire in days.
Enjoy your flowers and stay warm!

i wanted to let you know that if my name looks different, it's still the same Sarah. I had some google/blogger issues that resulted in My Yellow House being deleted and they can't get it back. Everything has been lost and I had to start a whole new blog. Anyway, just wanted to let you know it's still me.... xo

  11. Lovely, lovely, lovely! Now I'm wishing I had bought the gorgeous hyacinths I'd seen at Trader Joe's today! I have several pieces of transfer ware but only one brown place, which I love. The butter pats are to cute!
