Cream Hydrangeas

Hi there. It looks like storm clouds are rolling this way this evening. Earlier, some sunlight peeked out {just barely} and I quickly snapped some photos of the cream hydrangeas that my neighbor gave me yesterday from her garden.

Creamy hydrangeas are such a staple of the pure and simple modern country style I love so much. Effortless chic - don't you think? :)

I think they look great just plopped in a glass cylinder vase, an antique enamel body pitcher, or in a sap bucket as I did here.

I could glance over at them all day.

And they look so pretty paired with whites.

It's been a busy week. I have been getting the kids ready for going back to school.

I am going to have my son in second grade and my daughter in kindergarten.

It is going to feel very strange to have my youngest {Olivia} off in school - even if it's for half a day. It feels like she has been at home with me for so long. Time that I have enjoyed greatly having her with me. Sigh.

My little ones start school next Thursday.

I have been doing some serious thinking about going back to school myself for a graphic design degree; it's the program that appeals to me the most. My husband was hoping I would go into nursing, but I am just not interested in becoming a nurse.

At any rate, I will be figuring that all out soon. :)

I hope!

Hope you have a really nice weekend and I'll be back soon.

Lara

  1. Gorgeous photos Lara!! Love them in the sap bucket! It is hard when the little ones go to school. I had to chuckle a little about your husband wanting you to be a nurse. I remember many years ago when my husband thought I should become a travel agent(?). I'm sure you'll find something to do that you love. You are such talented lady!!

  2. Hi Lara,
I've so dreamingly journeyed through your blog and just love your photos, you have two beautiful munchkins too, a lovely family!

And, wow, it is so funny how even though you are in the northern part of the U.S., your weather is much warmer/hotter and your seasons much longer than some other areas in the U.S.

I live in the Northern part of Ontario Canada, our seasons are short, very short and winters very cold, but, I am sooo thankful that I can still get lots of flowers and a good harvest of vegetables to eat during the long winter months.

Our kids, well only one left at home now and in Grade 10 will start school after the first long weekend in September. Grade school is at the end of August! Time goes by so fast Lara, I so miss those days of having my boys at home, when they we're just little munchkins, so cute and lovable. Oh, we still love them as teenagers and young adults, but it isn't the same. And, watch out, time flies so fast! Before you know it they will be Graduating High School, getting married and having their own babies.

    Love & Blessings,
    Koren

  3. Beautiful, Lara! It's so hard to send our little ones off. I worked when my oldest son started school so it was a bit easier. I've been home with the twins from the start and I am dreading the first day of Kindergarten, which is fortunately 2 years away! A half day is a nice way to transition them...and MOM! :) Good luck with your schooling. I think you would be a wonderful graphic designer.

  4. I was always a bit melancholy when school started. I loved having my little ones home with me. The hydrangeas are lovely and the photos beautiful as always.

  6. Hi Lara,

My kiddos start school next week too! My eldest will be a junior in high school and my little one will start pre-k part-time. Gosh time is so fleeting, isn't it? Enjoy them at this age while you can..before you know it, they will be all grown up and driving! :(

Love your cream hydrangeas, btw! Actually, your photography and styling is just the best!

    Hugs,
    Jessie

  7. P.S. go for your dreams in terms of going back to school, I think you'd make a fab designer...that's what I'm doing now - going back to school for a career change {in your mid 30's} can be challenging, but I think it'll be worth it in the end! ;) I'm actually a better student now than I was back then {perhaps it's the maturity?!?! lol}. :)

    Blessings,
    Jessie

  10. My daughter heads back to school next week. And a 7th grader too.Where did that time go? Your hydrangeas are so pretty.Mine are looking pretty good now too.The only thing in my garden that is blooming.People always told me I should be a nurse. But it is a very hard job.And not one for me.I was at one time a nurses a assistant.I think that is when my decision was made for me.

  11. Your pictures are stunning....love those hydrangeas! I remember how sad I felt with my youngest leaving for kindergarten....I felt like my heart would break..they just seem so little still...to get on that big ol' school bus all by themselves...(mine wanted to ride the bus like her big sisters!)
Good luck on your school decision. Def. do what makes you happy. I'm thinking photography is definitely a talent you have...why not expand on that? :)
