I didn't think I was going to take anymore pictures until the end of the week, but when I woke up this morning and saw my dwarf Korean lilac shrub practically in full bloom, I pounced at the camera. This lilac shrub was planted at construction time of our home.
We are the 2nd home owners of this property. We bought our place from an older couple who had the whole place painted this neutral wall color; they only lived in here for a year before selling. I was surprised to find such a nicely maintained home in move-in condition. But, it was a surprise to me later on that the paint is flat paint; the most difficult finish to take care of. And I have two young children. The Magic Eraser just strips nicks and marks immediately down to the dry wall. A real pain in the rear. We are hoping to get the whole place repainted when the kids are a little older. We have really high ceilings in the living room, so we need to get professionals for that height. I wish I asked the former owners what color paint we have; I have no idea. what it is. A very light cream/linen color.
Here is the breakfast seating area in my kitchen.
Right now we have the original blinds that came with the house, but I am planning to do either white or linen cafe curtains here..

Isn't this vintage ledger page nice?
I got it from Tracey from French Larkspur when I bought my jute rug.
And here is the my lilac bush right outside the front door..
It smells absolutely heavenly right now.
Thanks for stopping by to see my lilac blooms.
I'm linking up with Photo Feature Friday at A Rosy Note.

ReplyDeleteI just adore the sweet smell of lilacs on warm sunny days....so delightful! Xoxoxo 1942charm.blogspot.com
ReplyDeleteLara, your Lilacs look wonderful, and I love the clear glass vase you chose, I happen to love seeing flower stems sometimes, and you made such a pretty arrangement with them. I also got a glimpse of that gorgeous wood flooring, it looks wonderful. The lighter wood has such a fresh updated feel, yet still looks great with vintage furniture and accessories. Wonderful post.
ReplyDeleteOh, My, how many times did I use the word Wonderful in my reply? Goodness, lol

ReplyDeleteI know how hard it would be to keep a flat paint on the walls with children. I do love the color of your wall now. It is perfect.
Such beautiful pictures! On of my favorite things is discovering what new things are happening in my garden every day. It's nice to get the chance to peek into other people's too! I love the lilacs and your pictures of the peonies. I have been trying to grow peonies in my garden for 2 years now. I guess they don't thrive in LA weather.
ReplyDeleteThis is my first time visiting your blog. I found it in "Artful Blogging". I look forward to following it!
Best wishes-Angela

ReplyDeleteHi Lara! What beautiful photos! My lilacs are blooming too, and I just can't get enough of their beautiful fragrance! I had planted a white one 4 years ago and it's blooming for the first time! Yay! It truly has a much stronger scent than my deep purple lilac bush. I just love them all, don't you? :) Have a joyful holiday, sweetie!
